Meet The Members Of The Door Store Team Who Will Make Your Project Pleasant & High Quality.
David Voss
Owner
“I started The Door Store in 1987 after a family member suggested it to me. I had experience in the construction industry working as a carpenter, so it made sense to give it a try. When I first opened the company, I had doubts that you could create a successful business by selling replacement windows and doors. To my surprise, we had a very profitable first year and since then have had 28 years of consecutive success. My original doubts have been transformed to an appreciation of how replacing doors and windows can make such a dramatic difference in people’s lives, as well as in the appearance of their homes. That is why, as a company, our main goal is to help lead each customer to the best product that will achieve their unique vision. In my spare time I enjoy wood working and tinkering with my classic car.”

Sales Representative
“I’ve been with The Door Store almost from the beginning. Dave hired me in 1989 after his first few successful years. Having already worked for other door companies, I came with a couple years of experience in the industry. Going to many of our suppliers’ factories and attending a number of their factory training courses has given me an even broader knowledge of different products and options available for customers. In my free time I enjoy fishing and cycling.”
Jonathan Voss
Sales Representative
“I started working for my dad at The Door Store at a young age, just doing simple tasks like sweeping and cleaning up. Through my high school and college years, I worked out in the field with the installation team as an assistant. After graduating with a Business degree in General Management from Thomas Edison State University in 2014, I started working in the store with the sales team. My dad has always taught me to work hard, do the best job possible, and to remember that customer satisfaction is the #1 priority. In my free time I enjoy watching and playing sports, being outdoors, and spending time with family.”
Jack Schipma
Service
“When Dave Voss was first envisioning The Door Store in 1987, my brother and I had a small roofing/remodeling business. Dave asked if we would install a few doors a week for him. When the business took off, we both came to work full-time. I started as an installer, but later transitioned to service. Now I spend most of my time servicing our customers. I love to fix things and problem-solve, so my job is a perfect fit for me.”
John Kooima
Installer
“I started working for The Door Store in 1999. In that time, I have worked with many people who have taught me the skills and ‘tricks of the trade.’ I have also attended many factory installation training courses that have allowed me to continue to hone my craft. I have always enjoyed working outside and using my hands, and it is always very rewarding to see the transformation that simply changing a door or window can make on a house. In my spare time, I enjoy watching sports, fishing, and spending time with my wife and kids.”
Brian Voss
Installer
“I’ve been working for The Door Store for most of my life. I have always had a passion for construction and working with my hands. In middle school, I started going to jobsites with our installers to help clean up and bring them tools. After high school, I worked in construction for about 5 years, framing houses in the Elmhurst area. I learned much about construction from doing this. Since then, I have been working as a full-time installer for the past seven years. Growing up in the family business and working on jobs at such an early age has allowed me to see and experience a variety of situations and installation scenarios, as well as learn a lot from those who have worked in the industry their whole lives. In my free time I enjoy golfing, yard work, projects around the house, and spending time with my beautiful wife and our three daughters.”
